Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 (coronavirus), and in order to aid in slowing the rate of spread of the virus, the City has ordered that all City facilities be closed to the public from March 16th, 2020 through March 30th.  As such, anyone who desires to appeal their proposed real estate assessment during this time is asked to send their appeal form in via email or United States Postal Service (USPS).  Upon receipt an appraiser will contact you by phone (if desired) to discuss your appeal.  Fillable appeal forms are available at http://www.portsmouthva.gov/168/Official-Forms, or they can be mailed at your request via USPS.  Completed forms can be emailed to [email protected] or returned via USPS to, City of Portsmouth City Assessor’s Office, 801 Crawford Street, Portsmouth, VA 23704.  Please note the deadline for submitting appeal applications is 5pm, April 10, 2020.  Late applications will not be accepted.  If you have any questions please contact our office at (757) 393-8631.  Thank You
