Q. Can I register to Vote in Virginia?
A. Yes, if you are a U.S. citizen, your home is in Virginia and you are 18 years of age or older. If you will be 18 by the next general election, you can register when you are 17. You first must have your voting rights restored if you are convicted of a felony, or if you are found mentally incompetent by a circuit court.

Q. When can I register?
A. Anytime of the year.
General or Primary Elections require 29 days and Special Elections require 14 days prior registration in order to be qualified to vote.

Q. Where can I register?
A. A citizen may apply to register to vote by mail, in any voter registrar’s office in Virginia, at special registration sites, DMV and Public Assistance Agencies.

Q. How much does it cost?
A. Voter Registration is FREE.

Q. What should I do if I have changed my name or my local address?
A. You can change your status by completing the back of your voter card either by mail or in person, sending a letter notifying the Office of the Registrar, or completing forms at DMV.
