Mosquito Activity (Scale from 0 to 5)
  • The mosquito activity is a 2 this week. The bulk of the mosquito activity this week is from tiger mosquitoes. The only way to control tiger mosquitoes it to dump out standing water around the home.
Surveillance
  • Rainfall last week averaged .79 inches; this was enough rain to fill containers around the homes.
  • 7 CDC style traps were set this week, with a total of 313 mosquitoes caught for an average of 45 per trap. CDC trap counts are falling and expected to continue falling.
  • 20 Omni-Directional Fay-Prince (OFP) were set this week, with a total of 443 tiger mosquitoes for an average of 22 per trap.

Service Requests
  • We had 11 service requests this week. Complaint calls were split this week between Churchland and Cradock. All of the calls in Cradock were from tiger mosquitoes.
Control Efforts
  • Crews have been out inspecting and treating catch basins and back ditches. Most of the ditches in the city are dry at this time.
  • Crews also truck fogged approximately 2,760 acres this week. Additional areas will be sprayed this weekend if weather conditions permit.
  • Mosquito Spray Information can be found on the Mosquito Hotline: 393-8666.
