| Mosquito Activity (Scale from 0 to 5) |
- The dry conditions have briefly come to an end; some areas
received over 4 inches of rain in the past week. An increase in
floodwater mosquitoes (mosquitoes that hatch out when it rains) will
be flying around over the next few weeks. Mosquito activity is a 2
this week but could climb to a 3 next week.
- We have stepped up our larval control efforts this week and made
preparations to spray for adult mosquitoes if need early next week.
|
| Surveillance |
- Rainfall last week averaged 2.23 inches, some areas received an
additional 3 inches on Monday this week.
- 5 CDC style traps were set this week, with a total of 351
mosquitoes caught for an average of 70 per trap. CDC trap counts
came up this week and are predicted to increase again next week.
- 20 Omni-Directional Fay-Prince (OFP) were set this week, with a
total of 506 tiger mosquitoes for an average of 25 per trap. Tiger
mosquitoes increased again this week. Tiger mosquitoes will
certainly increase over the next two weeks.

| Service Requests |

to rise next week due to the recent rainfall.
|
| Control Efforts |
- Crews have been out inspecting and treating standing water
citywide.
- Crews also truck fogged approximately 3,000 acres this week. We
are prepared to increase adult spraying if need next week.
|
| Federal Activities |
- Activity on the federal properties has been very active with Navy,
Army Corps, and City staff have conducted multiple on site visits on
our respective properties and coordinating control efforts. We are
prepared to handle possible increases in salt marsh mosquito
populations early next week if need.
- We are closely monitoring
conditions and adjusting control strategy as needed. For more detailed
