| Mosquito Activity (Scale from 0 to 5) |
- The mosquito forecast for the rest of the holiday week looks
excellent. Over all mosquito activity is a 1 at this time.
- The city recorded less than a ¼ inch of rainfall last week at
all four mosquito rain stations. Dry conditions persist making it
difficult for mosquitoes to thrive.
|
| Surveillance |
- There is minimal standing water in the city and almost all areas
are dry.
- We conducted reduced trapping this week due to the holiday
falling midweek.
- 5 CDC style traps were set this week, with a total of 122
mosquitoes caught for an average of 25 per trap about the same as
last week.
- 10 Omni-Directional Fay-Prince (OFP) were set this week, with a
total of 57 tiger mosquitoes for an average of 6 per trap. Tiger
mosquito counts were slightly lower this week. With out rainfall
tiger mosquito populations should remain low.

| Service Requests |
- We had no service requests this week.
|
| Citizens Mosquito Control |
- While mosquito counts are low to prevent mosquito bites
residents need to remember to use insect repellants. Any of the many
commercially available products containing DEET, oil of lemon
eucalyptus, or Picaridin have been proven effective and safe.
Remember, even if we sprayed your neighborhood every night, we still
would not be able to kill all the mosquitoes.
