Mosquito Activity (Scale from 0 to 5)
- The city received 0.50 inches of rain last week. Trap counts
remain low as dry conditions prevail in the city; the only
significant mosquito populations are container breeding tiger
mosquitoes.
- Despite the declining trap counts and dry conditions the
mosquito activity remains a 2 because of the presence of EEE in
mosquitoes. Citizens should keep vigilant emptying out standing
water around their houses and use insect repellant that contains
DEET or Picaridin to prevent mosquito bites.

Surveillance
- 10 CDC style light traps were set this week, a total of 232
mosquitoes were caught, for an average of 23 per trap. Trap counts
increased slightly from last week. Trap counts continue to remain
low because of the lack of rainfall.
- 7 Gravid style traps were set this week, a total of 153
mosquitoes were caught, for an average of 22 per trap. Gravid trap
counts were down 25% from last week.
- Staff will continue to submit mosquito pools for virus testing
as needed for the remainder of the season.

Mosquito Control Facts (Spotlight on rain gutters)
- Clogged up rain gutters can produce large numbers of tiger
mosquitoes. Leaves and pine needles will clogg rain gutters over
time. Clean the rain gutters at least twice per year to keep water
flowing. Houses under trees may require more frequently cleaning any
time leaves or pine needles start to accumulate.
