Mosquito Activity (Scale from 0 to 5)

  • Mosquito activity remains low this week, city wide activity is a 1.

Surveillance

  • 10 CDC style light traps were set this week, a total of 1,223 mosquitoes were caught, for an average of 123 per trap. The average number of mosquitoes per trap night was slightly lower this week.
  • 7 Gravid traps were this week, a total of 139 mosquitoes were caught, for an average of 20 per trap. Gravid traps should continue to increase over the next month.
  • Rain early this week has flooded some roadside ditches.

Service Requests

  • We received 4 complaint calls about mosquitoes.
  • We received 4 compliments this week.

Control

  • Crews are treating catch basins, roadside ditches, and back ditches city wide.
  • Very limited truck fogging will be conducted as needed.
  • Mosquito Spraying information is posted on the Mosquito Spray Hotline at 393-8666.

Special Note

  • Mosquito forecast for the holiday weekend is good. Citizens can expect below normal mosquito activity for this time of year.
  • Citizens should use insect repellant containing DEET when out doors to prevent being bitten by mosquitoes.
