Stolen Vehicles:
Nearly 20% of all vehicles stolen have keys in them . Don't leave your car running ,not even for a minute --- Convenience stores, gas stations, and ATMs are common hunting grounds for thieves, and cars left running to warm up on cold mornings are easy prey. Remember to remove visible items in your car out of sight. Check out this flyer to learn more.

Hurricane Prepareness
VA Tax Relief:
The official start of hurricane season is June 1st, which is less than a month away! To encourage and to assist citizens in getting prepared, the Commonwealth of Virginia offers a Sales Tax Holiday on the purchase of certain items for your emergency supply kits and for your homes, from May 25th through May 31st.
Please see the flyer for details so that you can prepare to save money during the Sales Tax Holiday while preparing your families and homes for the hurricane season!

2010 Session Highlights:
The General Assembly session convened on Jan 13th and adjourned on Mar 14th. The 2010 Session Highlights summarizes some of the legislation consided during the 60 day session.
The General Assembly will reconvene on Apr 21st to consider any vetoes or changes the Governor my make to the legislation approved during sessions. Unless otherwise stated, legislation approved by the Governor will become law on Jul 1st.

Lawmakers Adopt A Budget:
According to the Virginia Pilot, Virginia Lawmakers finally adopts a budget that makes deep cuts in some areas but in many cases the cuts were not as steep as had been considered. $47 million for Public Safety, that directly relates to the Sheriff's Office, has been restored.

It is time again for our annual March of Dimes fundraisers. We are starting with two events this year at the Wal-Mart Store on Frederick Boulevard.
- The first is March 27th from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- The second is on April 10th from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
