PROPERTY MANAGEMENT UNIT
The Property
Management Unit is primarily responsible for safeguarding
evidence that has been submitted by officers for criminal court
proceedings as well as found property that has been turned in to
the Police Department.
Once the final disposition of a case has been determined, the
Unit makes every effort to contact the owners to return the
property. Citizens contacted by the Property and Evidence Unit
should call (757) 393-8605 to make arrangements for pick-up. A
picture I.D. must be provided before property can be released.
In accordance with state code, items not claimed within 60
days of notification being sent will be disposed of or auctioned
at the City Auction the last Thursday of each month.
Our office hours to the public are: Monday through Friday
8:30am to 2:00pm and we are closed on all city recognized
holidays.
We are located in the basement of Police Headquarters at 711
