Picture 14 from Pictures Page 5Previous | Page 5 Home | Next The Olde Towne waterfront (seen in the background, behind the American Rover) is just one of our many treasures. Unlike many urban cities, our buildings are scaled down so that the daily life of the Elizabeth River is not lost behind high-rise buildings. Alfresco dining is extremely popular along the waterfront, which is also the site of our many festivals. The Olde Towne Portsmouth waterfront is a special place where visitors and residents alike can occasionally catch a glimpse of a majestic cruise ship undergoing repairs across the river or a battleship making its way down the harbor to the nation’s oldest naval shipyard.
