PORTSMOUTH, VA – Early acceptances for the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament (P.I.T.) have been received from Georgetown’s Patrick Ewing Jr. and Jonathan Wallace, along with Clemsen’s James Mays.
The P.I.T. is the nation’s oldest amateur basketball tournament, recognized by NBA and European scouts as the premier showcase for potential professional prospects.
To find out what other college seniors will use this year’s P.I.T. to springboard into the NBA, attend the 56th annual P.I.T., April 9-12, 2008. All 12 games are held in the gymnasium of Churchland High School, 4301 Cedar Lane in Portsmouth, VA.
• Opening round games will be played at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 9.
• Thursday’s games on April 10th include a free consolation game at 3:15 p.m., as well as the opening round games at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.
• Friday’s free consolation game on April 11th is at 3:15 p.m., with semi-finals at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.
• Final games will be played Saturday, April 12, at 12 noon (7th place) and 2 p.m. (consolation championship game); 6 p.m. (third-place championship game); and at 8 p.m. (championship game).
Tickets to the P.I.T. can be purchased for $8 per night or $25 for all 12 games of the tournament. Tickets go on sale March 10 and are available through all Ticketmaster outlets and through the Willett Hall box office, which is open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
