Description:
The City of Portsmouth is seeking part-time EMS Paramedics to perform life support work (maximum 36 hours a week). Must be a U.S. citizen, 19 years of age at the time of submission of application.

Education/Experience:
Must possess a High School diploma or GED. Requires a minimum of 1 year of experience in the provision of emergency medical care in an E-911 system as a certified paramedic by the Commonwealth of Virginia and/or nationally registered and must be Tidewater EMS Council Sanctioned or have the ability to obtain a Tidewater EMS Council Sanction.

Req:
Must possess or have the ability to obtain a certification in CPR (AHA or Red Cross), ACLS, PALS, or PEPP, EVOC and BTLS. All certifications must be obtained within 90 days of hire date. All employees are required to work a minimum of three shifts a month, one of which must include a weekend day or night shift. Employees are required to work one city holiday per year. Must possess a valid Driver's License issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia. All out of state applicants must obtain a Driver's License issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia within 30 days of employment. Applicants will have to submit to a criminal history check and a DMV driving history.
