Job Description:
EMERGENCY SERVICES-The City of Portsmouth Department of Behavioral Healthcare Services seeks a professional to provide services to individuals and families through crisis intervention; must be willing to work various shifts, including nights and weekends. CENTRAL INTAKE- The City of Portsmouth Department of Behavioral Healthcare Services is seeking an individual to provide professional therapeutic services to individuals and families through clinical assessment and therapy, case management and crisis intervention in a central intake office. Employee conducts intake assessments and diagnostic evaluations.
Education/Experience:
EMERGENCY SERVICES-Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or a related human services field. ( The Master's degree must be acceptable by the Virginia Department of Health Professions as a sufficient Master's degree to allow licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker,(LCSW) a Licensed Professional Counselor(LPC), a Licensed Substance Abuse Practitioner, or a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist; or Virginia licensed as a Registered Nurse and 36 months professional work experience with a psychiatric population); and 3 to 5 years clinical services. CENTRAL OFFICE INTAKE : Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or related human services field and 3 to 5 years clinical services.
Special Req: Must possess a valid Driver's License issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia. Qualified applicants may be given a conditional employment offer. Actual employment is contingent upon the satisfactory results of a federal and state criminal background check, using fingerprints, and a search of the Virginia Department of Social Services' Child Abuse and Neglect Registry, as required by law. The Department of Behavioral Healthcare Services is looking to fill two types of Clinical Therapist I positions. Please indicate on your application if you are applying for the Clinical Therapist I position in the area of MH-Emergency Services or MH-Central Intake. A City of Portsmouth application must be completed for each area of interest.
