Description:
The City of Portsmouth seeks a highly qualified and self-motivated individual to perform difficult and complex professional and administrative work assisting the Director with various transportation studies and plans, special projects or programs within the Planning Department. Work will emphasize managing and implementing the City’s Master Transportation Plan which focuses on creating Complete Streets and on creating innovative multimodal solutions in an urban environment. Duties also include representing the City on various regional transportation groups.

Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Planning or a closely related field. Master’s Degree preferred; 3 to 5 years of progressively responsible experience in transportation and land use planning at the local or regional government level; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Experience with context sensitive design and grant writing experience also preferred.
