Station 1

1601 Effingham Street

Station 1 is centrally located and primarily serves the communities of Brighton, Truxton, Prentis Park, and Olde Towne. It was constructed as an anchor for the redevelopment that is now flourishing in Southside Portsmouth. The surrounding area is currently home to the Ntelos Amphitheater, Ocean Marine Yacht Center, and many other new businesses.

Station 1 houses Engine 1 (a fully equipped Advanced Life Support engine), Engine 2, Ladder 1, Medic 1 and Battalion 1. It also houses the Portsmouth component of the Southside Regional Hazardous Materials Response Team.
