Fire Training

Firefighting is a dangerous career. The only way to to minimize the risk to the safety of personnel is to continuously train and re-train. A firefighter's training begins when they enter the Fire Academy as a Recruit, but their training will not end during the course of their career.

Fire companies are required to attend regularly scheduled training classes. The required training includes both classroom and practical exercises. Each session is designed to refresh knowledge and skills already learned as well as to teach new knowledge and techniques that will keep department members up to date on the latest information. available.

Additionally, training as a company and as a department insures that when a call for help comes in, no time will be lost when the Fire Department arrives on scene. The old adage, "practice like you play", is certainly true for fire companies. Ongoing, quality training is the key to smooth operations on a scene when seconds count.
