TCC new campus in Portsmouth, Virginia

Tidewater Community College celebrated the beginnings of its new 183,000-square-foot campus in the city of Portsmouth with a gala groundbreaking May 16. With buckets and backhoes, the college ceremoniously honored its original “mother” campus on the Nansemond River by mixing dirt from that site with dirt from the new location in Victory, a mixed-use development including residences and business. The original campus launched in 1968 when the Beazley Foundation donated the former Frederick College to the Commonwealth of Virginia to begin a community college in South Hampton Roads.
