As a “Taxpayer Advocate”, our office operates as the chief assessment office for the City of Portsmouth. It is our pleasure to process, among other valuable services, Business Licenses, Business Personal Property Accounts, Excise Tax Accounts, Personal Property Accounts, Residential Sales Permits and State Income Tax Returns annually.

While we support the Real Estate Tax Relief and the Real Estate Tax Freeze Programs for qualifying citizens, we do not perform Real Estate Tax Assessments, as that responsibility, under City Code, is assigned to the City’s Real Estate Assessor’s Office (757-393-8631).
