Clean Community Awards 2008

WHY IS THERE AN AWARDS PROGRAM?

The Clean Community Commission is charged with initiating, planning, directing and promoting programs for litter control and prevention; as well as, beautification in Portsmouth.

As a commission, we encourage the planting and preservation of key landscaped gateways and promote public awareness and participation in the improvement of the environment. Additionally, the commission advises and recommends plans to promote Portsmouth as a “Clean Winner” in the Hampton Roads community by maintaining open dialogue with key departments and officials.

The Clean Community Award was created by the Commission as a way to recognize groups and individuals whose civic pride and efforts in the community are in keeping with the Portsmouth Clean Community Commission’s mission of litter prevention and beautification.
