Adopt-A-Spot Program
The Adopt-a-Spot program was established in an effort to enable citizens to take an active role in keeping their community neat. This Clean Community Commissions service program partners with others to promote litter prevention and/ or beautification in an effort to “Make Portsmouth prettier one spot at a time.” Modeled after the Virginia Dept. of Transportation’s Adopt-a-Highway Program, the Portsmouth Adopt-A-Spot program encourages individuals and group to participate in the temporary adoption of a public space or city entranceway. Each individual and/or group is responsible for maintaining their adopted location and is provided name recognition for their hard work. Current Adopt-A-Spot Participants
