Portsmouth’s Sister Cities

  • Dunedin, New Zealand --
    Located on the southern shores of New Zealand in the South Pacific, Dunedin and Portsmouth, Virginia formeda sister city relationship in1962. This was Portsmouth's first Sister Cities relationship. Today, the city of Dunedin is know for its unparalleled beauty, which includes an extensive harbor surrounded by rolling hills and beaches.
     
  • Portsmouth, England --
    In 1982, Portsmouth entered into a sister city relationship with Portsmouth, England. Portsmouth, England, like Portsmouth, Virginia, has a long history of naval activity. Portsmouth, England is a blend of the old and new. The city boasts ancient buildings of the past but has taken a world leadership role in such areas as aerospace communications and computer technology.
     
  • Kericho, Kenya --
    In 2002, Portsmouth entered into another sister city relationship with the people of Kericho (pronounced Que-Rhe-Choe), Kenya. Kericho is mainly known for its beauty, tea, rain, and most of all the hospitality of its people. Most of the tea produced in Kenya is grown and processed here. Kericho was one of the earliest established towns in the south western part of Kenya and has been a district administrative center up to present time.
