Daily Activities
"Toolboxes"
Daily - 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
Each toolbox lasts about 15 minutes, and generally involves hands on activities with a staff member. Topics include magnets, shadows, pet care, trains, sound and bubbles, weather permitting.
Classes
ABC Art: Art for Preschoolers - Ages 3-6
April 13- June 1 1-2 pm
Students are introduced to the world of visual art and artists in this eight-week process-oriented class. The young artists will create their own masterpieces as they experiment with materials, enhance their creativity, and acquire skills in both 2-D and 3-D art in this parent/child program.
Registration deadline: April 6, 2010

Atomic Art: Classes for Home Schooled Children Ages 7-12
April 15- June 3 1-3 pm
Students will learn basic color theory, art history, and art appreciation in this eight-week session that emphasizes experimenting in a variety of techniques to create both 2-D and 3-D artwork. Through drawing, painting, and sculpting, students will explore their own creativity while receiving instruction that nurtures self-expression.
Tuition: $50 / Student (members), $55 / Student (non-members)

Sense-sational Art
June 21-25, 2-3 pm
Investigate art with more than just your eyes! Every day you will use a different sense in the art project.

2-D Art and Printmaking
Aug 2-6, 10 –11 am
Make your creative mark using your fingers, household objects, recycled materials, and brushes. This is an expressive art class so dress for a mess!

Summer Art Classes for Ages 7-12
Think Big and Paint Bigger
July 19- 23, 1:30-3:30 pm
Students explore a variety of painting techniques in which they create a giant painting and take home smaller works.

3-D Art Exploration
Aug 16-20 10:00-12:00
Learn about contemporary art through sculpture and wearable art. Students will use plastics, clay, recycled materials, and wire in this class that’s all about creativity and art that’s NOT flat.

Teen Art Class for Ages 12-15
July 26-30 1:30-3:30
2-D, 3-D, and mixed media techniques will be introduced for incorporation into the artist’s individual projects in this camp where teens discover their talent.

Family Fun Days
FAIRY TALE ART: Illustrations from Children’s Books
May 7, 2010 : 5 - 8 p.m.
Come as your favorite Fairy Tale character. Enjoy the exhibit featuring some of your favorite stories that celebrate the wisdom and symbolism of past cultures and metaphoric language that has been handed down through the ages. Enjoy light refreshments, storytelling, and artist demonstrations. Free and open to the public. The opening is offered in conjunction with the Olde Towne Business Association’s First Friday Events.
CELEBRATE KIDS: It's YOUR Day!
Saturday, August 1, 2010, 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.
This is the day kids take their adults out to play! The tradition continues as we spend meaningful time with the children in our lives. Visit the 4 Portsmouth Museums for a day full of fun.

Calling all Ghosts, Goblins, Princesses and Superheroes
Saturday, October 30, 2010, 10:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.
Enjoy a haunting day of Halloween fun at all 4 Portsmouth Museums, including frightfully fun Arts and Crafts, Face Painting, and Wizardry.
Be sure to stay for the Annual Safe Trick-or-Treat in Olde Towne Portsmouth
from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. This event is held exclusively for all children up to age 12.
