Parking Ticket Information

Enforcement of parking regulations reduces the incidence of hazardous situations that could cause injuries, increases the availability of short-term parking spaces for customers and clients of businesses, and protects the revenues collected though use of metered parking spaces and pay stations.

Parking Violations

If you receive a parking violation notice, you may within 14 days of issuance:
  • Mail the violation notice with a check or money order for the amount indicated to:

  • Pay in person at one of these locations:
    • Portsmouth Police Department Records Unit Office,
      711 Crawford Street
      Monday - Friday
      9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
    • City Treasurer’s Office in City Hall
      801 Crawford Street
      Monday - Friday
      8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
    • Churchland Branch of the Treasurer’s Office at the
      Churchland Library
      Monday - Friday
      9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
  • Call 800-272-9829 to pay-by-phone or pay online at Official Payments using your ticket number and Jurisdiction Code 6209. A handling fee applies, which varies depending upon the amount of the payment.
  • Appear in person within 14 days from date of issue at the Traffic Division Clerk’s Office of Portsmouth General District Court, 711 Crawford Street, Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., to request a Court Hearing. You will need to take your parking ticket and identification with you.
