| Mosquito Activity (Scale from 0 to 5) |
- We received an average of .75 inches of rain last week. Frequent
rain showers and hot temperatures are the perfect combination for
tiger mosquitoes. Citizens need to empty all standing water around
your house to limit tiger mosquitoes.
- Mosquito activity is a 2 for the entire city. There has been no
Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) or West Nile Virus (WNV) detected
in the area this year.
|
| Surveillance |
- Ten CDC style traps were set this week and a total of 1,711
mosquitoes were caught, with an average of 171 mosquitoes per trap
night. This is up slightly from last week.
- The majority of the increase was at the landfill trap location.
- Gravid traps will start in two weeks. Gravid traps are the
primary tool used to measure the major species of mosquitoes that
can carry West Nile Virus.
