Mosquito Activity (Scale from 0 to 5)
- Trap counts are low and complaint calls are down. Mosquito activity
is a (2) for this week.
Surveillance
- 9 CDC style light traps were set this week, a total of 762
mosquitoes were caught, for an average of 85 per trap. Trap counts were
down from last week.
- 7 Gravid traps were set this week, a total of 94 mosquitoes were
caught, for an average of 14 per trap. Gravid trap counts are still low
for this time of year. To date no mosquitoes have tested positive for
West Nile Virus in the City of Portsmouth.
Service Requests
- We received 3 complaint calls about mosquitoes this week.
Control
- We received close to an inch of rain earlier this week. Staff are
monitoring mosquito breeding sites and treating as needed.
- Limited truck fogging is scheduled for the rest of this week. Truck
spraying information is available on the Mosquito Hotline at 393-8666
